John O’Donnell – University Organist, Monash University – is an internationally renowned keyboard artist, choral conductor and musicologist. He was educated at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and later held senior appointment at the Victorian College of the Arts and the University of Melbourne.
As a keyboard performer he tours Europe regularly, and is the first person ever to perform Bach’s complete keyboard works in public. His recording of organ works of Bach was nominated for “Recording of the Year” in 2000 by International Record Review. John is currently Monash University Organist and keyboard player for Capella Corelli. As a church musician was director of the Choir of the “Canterbury Fellowship” in Melbourne for more than thirty years. He is currently Director of Music at All Saint’s Anglican Church, East St Kilda.
As harpsichordist and organist, he has recorded the Complete Keyboard works of Johann Casper Kerll released on Tall Poppies (TP121, 2000), with plainchant interpolations recorded by the men of Ensemble Gombert. He is completing new editions of the complete keyboard works of Johann Pachelbel and Nicolas de Grigny.
